The Open Studio Hand Building class is for developing clay artists who have clay experience and have the foundational skills to work with clay. It is their goal to work with more complex hand building forms to develop individual skills.
This open studio format is not a class, but rather a friendly artistic endeavor that is supported by the people who make up the session community. The instructor is present to support oral suggestions for assistance. This is not a class where lessons are provided. Dinorah will provide oral suggestions for best practices if a student needs assistance. Dinorah will be available to provide information as she works on her individual projects. Students can observe and be introduced to clay handling strategies and new techniques.
-
● It should be noted the class is considerably lower in cost than the Beginning Hand Building Class or the Wheel Throwing class, due to the format of the Open Studio concept.
-
● Students will provide their own clay.
-
● Students may opt to provide their own glazes, or may pay a $5-$30 fee to use the
instructors glazes, depending upon glaze need.
-
● Students will be responsible for paying for bisque firing and glaze firing charges
based on individual pieces. This fee is set by the person operating the bisque or glaze firing.
Because supplies and firing are not included, the class is considerably lower in cost than the Beginning Hand Building Class due to the format of the Open Studio concept.
